Monitor calibration is the single most overlooked aspect of the photography and editing workflow. If you're editing on an uncalibrated screen, you're essentially guessing what your photo looks like.

Quick fix

If you can't afford a hardware calibrator, use your operating system's built-in display calibration tool (System Preferences > Displays > Calibrate on Mac, or Display Color Calibration on Windows) as a starting point.
